Finding Value

Though things have improved somewhat over the past few months, used car prices remain near record-high levels, and new vehicles have moved in the exact same direction. While this is great news for sellers, finding an affordable used vehicle these days - especially one that's in good condition and reliable - isn't terribly easy to do. Luckily, iSeeCars just released its list of the best used car values for the money, and it contains a handful of Ford models for those in the market for a good deal.

Methodology

To come up with this list, iSeeCars looked at more than 1.1 million used vehicle sales comprised specifically of five- and 10-year-old models that occurred between September and December 2023. It then compared that information to each model's remaining lifespan, data that comes from its own proprietary model. This way, we can analyze how much life a used vehicle has left, coupled with its cost, giving us a better look at that model's value.

Ford Edge

In that regard, the Ford Edge is first on our list, as it ranked 12th among the top 20 best five-year-old used cars for the money. The mid-size crossover achieved this thanks to its average sales price of $22,636 and average remaining lifespan of 125,552 miles - which equates to a price of $1,803 per 10k miles, coupled with the fact that the average used Edge has 63.4 percent of its life remaining. By comparison, the average used vehicle offers up a price of $2,249 per 10k miles.

Ford Ranger

Next up, we have the Ford Ranger, which ranked as the eighth-best five-year-old used truck value on the market at the moment. The average Ranger of that age is selling for $30,669 and has 66.9 percent of its lifespan remaining - or 127,836 miles - good for $2,399 per 10k miles.

Ford F-150

Finally and perhaps unsurprisingly, the Ford F-150 also made the cut as one of the top five-year-old used truck values on the market, too. The average F-150 of this vintage is selling for $35,309, with an average remaining lifespan of 115,425 miles, or 59.8 percent - with an effective price tag of $3,059 per 10k miles - good enough for 11th place on this list.
