Replacing brake line (the long one)

Hey fellas, happy father’s day to all the dads out there

Quick question, so I developed a pin hole leak in my rear brake line. It’s the one that follows the frame rail back to the rear axle—the really long one. It’s pretty rusty I wouldn’t trust a splice. I ordered a new one but do I have to drop the tank to replace it?

The truck is a CCLB E99 if that matters. Thanks for any advice,

Andrew

EDIT: what I meant was do I need to remove the fuel tank or can I shimmy it to the side? What’s the best course of action I have about 25 gallon of fuel in it and primitive hand tools haha

I ran a copper nickel line (well secured and protected against rubbing) outside the frame rail when mine popped. I'll move it if/when I have to drop the tank for some other reason in the future.

Similar to the above…… I was able to fish a replacement line between the tank and frame…….then later when I had the tank dropped I secured it in its original location.

BTW, IMHO the tank is not that difficult to lower…… especially when it’s low on fuel (*) and a good time to do the Hutch Mod if not already done…..and check roll over valves and vent tubing.

* (I made a 3/4” X 8” X 48” pine board that bolts to the swivel plate on my garage jack….similar to transmission jack to stabilize the length of the tank)
