the metal brake line over the rear diff has a leak where the bracket to hold it in place closest to the diff is...any suggestions to replace this?...im disabled so its a little harder for me to replace things so any info on this would be appreciated..
its on my 1997 f-250..
well ill respond to my own post..i got underneath and its the right rear brake line rotted threw at the retainer clip...i could not get the line off at the brake plate so i un-did it at the rear junction...put a plug in it cause im out in the boonies till i get into town and get the line and take into somebody who can get the line off at the brake plate...i know the rear brakes do bugger all so i should be good for 10 miles?..its like my yamaha quad now...1 rear brake
Take it slow. Use the e-brake if you need assistance stopping. Remember you're going to get a huge pull to one side when you use the brakes, so be ready to counter steer.
A leak at a fitting either means the fitting is bad or the brake line flair is buggered. In either case, tightening the fitting will not help. i was going to recommend replacing the line, but you are already past the diagnosis.
its drum brake so its not pulling at all..in the 13 years i have had the truck the rear brakes have been done once..they dont do anything..the front brakes ive lost track..6 maybe 7 times??..its stopping just fine..front pucks are still over 75%.. i may just leave it cause i only use it for trips to town and huntng..i live in the boonies so its not like im a hazard..ill fix it after i get the f650 tiddled up
