3 month old/new ICM from a box with Motorcraft printed on it starting to fail?!?
Heading to Eastern WA, (80's) it started to stumble/not take throttle smoothly.
~~Any quick fix?? Tips?~~
Yes, I applied heat goo from the electronics store, didn't overtorque, etc...
I'll have to get back to the Seattle metropolis Sunday on a (very likely) stop-N-go I90 traffic nightmare :-(
Is this the ignition module on the side of the distributor? A computer controlled ignition?
Are you running the original stock coil, or did you upgrade it.
It's usually heat related. Figuring a way to cool it might help. Maybe a blast tube, but that wont help in stop and go traffic.
Disconnecting the spout connector will take to computer out of the picture, running in fixed timing, about 10 degrees.
But it won't help if it still gets hot.
Good luck, Jim
Edit, if your coil is original, I would not touch it. A New Coil might be lower quality.
