Be very careful of "remanufactured" distributors. Many times it has been reported it took a few tries to get one with a good PIP in it. If you are going down that path.....
The PIP is a sensor mounted in the stator and the stator is mounted inside the distributor.
The pick-up coil was used from about 1975-1985 in the DuraSpark II Ignition system and was replaced by the PIP sensor when they went to the EEC-IV Ignition system.
There is no pick-up coil in the PIP/Stator.
The TFI is how a ICM is made.
PIP: Profile Ignition Pickup, Provides crankshaft or camshaft position information for ignition synchronization.
TFI: Thick Film Ignition. An ignition module comprised of a custom integrated circuit, Darlington output device and associated thick film integrated components.
ICM: Ignition Control Module, The module that controls the ignition system.
