Cool 1970 F100 Seatbelts

I have a 1970 Ford F100 Ranger, with a bench seat, that I am trying to convert to the 3-point seatbelts. I have been doing all my research with LMC Truck, Jegs, Yogis and more. I finally bought one from Yogis and no matter what I do I am not able to make the new ones fit. The gas tank is in the way on both sides, and the driver's side has the duel gas tank switch in the way as well. Has anyone figured out the best product and way to install it on one of these. Even if it is in Retro-spect? Thanks

This thread might help: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-seatbelt.html

I installed a set from LMC years ago. I used the bolt holes the old lap belts were fastened to in fron to the gas tank on the floor and the factory bolt holes up at the shoulder in my '68.

The cab is partially disassembled right now, but these are the mounting locations I used. Your '70 might be different.

If safety is really your goal, with a 3 point belt, yank the cab gas tank out and put a tank under the truck

I installed the LMC 3 points seat belts they worked fine I have to finagle it around the filler neck but once I get it around the filler neck then it’s fine.

I couldn’t stand that ugly filler neck sticking out any longer. This will get me by for a couple of months until I move it under the bed I have to buy a couple of things first before tank relocation. 1. Tires on the new rims I bought a month ago 2. Rear disc brake kit. And then drive it.

Solution I’m working on.

For me the hole at the tank is just too close to the tank for this seatbelts to fasten to. The Universal seatbelts that I got from Yogi’s, which are pretty much exactly like LMC’s are just too bulky. My gas tank goes all the way across the back so I have trouble on both sides. But I’ve gone down to a metal shop and had a quarter inch piece of steel bracket made which will weld to the L bracket that came with the universal belts and that will move it out about 3 1/4 inches from the tank and I think that should do the trick. I saw a guy on YouTube use a bracket like that, but no one said where to get the bracket from. And I called Yogi’s, LMC, And Jegs but no one could supply the bracket. So I think I’ve got one fashioned now that should do the trick. I just don’t see how you guys got yours to fit between the seat and the door and the tank. Mine is just too bulky.

the LMC should be a angle bracket that kicks it out away from the gas tank. As for clearance you have to look at it while you closing the door and make sure it doesn’t hit the door. Here is pictures of my 3 point install I bought one just for a test fit on the driver side if I wasn’t happy with it then I was going to move it over to the passenger side. BUT I was happy with the clearance and it works.

It's a Camper Special, so it had an auxillary tank with the switch on the cab floor and the valve under the floor next to the driver's door. That might explain the difference.

I bought this truck off a guy in southern Califonia ten years ago. He rplaced the gas tank because the truck had been sitting for 20 years. As far as I know it's a standard repro unit. The only thing I've done to the fuel lines since I stripped the cab for a repaint is to clean the surface rust off with a wire wheel. Original lines, as far as I can tell.
