1966 Father & Son - Floor Pan Confusion
).We brought this home in Aug of 2004 and went to work to make it safe and reliable to drive. 2 months later, now with a driver's license in hand, my son rolled out of the shop for the first time in the truck and has since put over 10,000 miles on it, driving it daily.
Holley Sniper EFI 302, 4R70W trans, 8.8 rear end, Vintage air, a long list of good parts, and all the right looks for a young man - even recently won first place in category at the local Decatur Spring Meet.
Now the truth is, this truck is a rusty pile with a half-decent paint job (and more bonodo than I want to think about). But, did I mention I am a sucker for classics, I told my son that if he could make it a couple of years without crashing the thing, we'd dive into a more comprehensive restoration/modification of the truck.
I am pretty clear on everything with one major exception - the cab floor. The PO hacked the rear section of the floor out to put bucket seats in it, so it needs a complete floor, floor braces, front cab mounts, etc. The rest of the cab is in surprisingly good shape.
I cannot find a replacement floor for a 1966 F100 2WD. To make matters worse, the more I research, the more confused I've found myself regarding the options that are out there: 65 4x4 floor, just use a 67-72 pan, etc.
Hoping to tap into the knowledge of the community here for help. What is actually available, what will work, if not an exact fit, what level of modifications are required? Any help would be much appreciated - help me live up to my promise.
Not a complete novice here - I've owned a 67 Bronco (I know rust). Just hoping for some guidance from those who have tackled this ahead of me.
