Been scrubbing off grime on SAB and under it all, the block and head (and covers) seem to be be painted GREY! WTF? Ever since I've worked on Fords the engines are painted BLUE ("FORD BLUE!")! Is this a rebuilt engine that the rebuilder painted grey?
They started using what we all called "Military Grey" back in the 80s
64 and 65 the blocks were black with gold valve covers 289 in particular
1982 the grey blocks and valve covers came out in the 5.0 Mustang HO motors IIRR
They were all grey after that
This is gonna sound bizarre, but I've decided to repaint it gloss white, with the frame satin black. (Don't worry, I doubt the engine paint will stick or last long.)
