Looking in to replacing my Goodyear DuraTracs with some Nitto tires. Mostly highway and foul weather. Anyone have any experience with the Recon Grappler vs Ridge Grappler? Prefer the more aggressive look but not looking for lots of noise. Got a really low mileage set of LT285/75R18 Goodyear DuraTracs I'll make someone a heck of a deal on. 😁
I had both the Recons and Ridge, they both suck on wet pavement with no weight on the box. best tread wear was 36K miles. I run BFG KO2's now, much better tire.
I’ve only had the Ridge Grappler, I’ve had 2 sets. Great mileage, 40-45k each time. They do get sketchy in rain for the last 5k or so but up to then, not bad at all. And very smooth/quiet. I’ve heard not so good things about the Recon, unfortunately. I’d stay away from those - difficulty balancing them, and cupping/bad wear. KO3’s from BFG, same thing - stay away from those.
For me, the jury’s still out, but I just bought a set of Hercules RT1’s. Check them out, they may save you some money.
I had a set of Ridge Grapplers years back but only put about 20k on them before getting rid of my truck. KO2's I've had were been decent. With the new KO3's. I'm not getting any good reviews. Not against Toyos, but I had a set of ATII's that did nothing but make tons of road noise. I am open to any suggestions and I appreciate all the input so far.

My choice was the Falken WIldpeak AT4, and after 30k+ miles, it has been a superb choice! They balanced easy, are wearing great (will be easy 60k, even under the 6.7), and they have had excellent traction in all situations I have been in. And even with over 30k miles on them, unless the radio is turned off I don't hear them. When I got them, they were less expensive than other similar tires in the same size from BFG, Toyo, Nitto, etc..., and last but not least, they look great. I got mine when they wee very first released to the public, and if I couldn't have gotten these, I would have went with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, but at the cost of lower tread life and higher cost. Overall though, I have read more good things about these 2 tires than pretty much all others... and after using the WP's I have draw the same conclusion. The only downside to the WP's are that some are not made in the US, and I know that is off-putting to some folks. Don't get me wrong, I wish my set were made in the US, but I would also like to know that I spent my money on an actual good quality tire that is also safe (which was absolutely not my experience with the OE GY's...) Just my $0.02... but if you are interested, here is a thread I have with more detail after 30k miles with them.
To be fair, this was the only time I have driven them in snow or ice, but they did great. I never had any concern about poor traction. And while this is an uncommon condition for me, it's good to know that they do so well when I may encounter them!

Hercules makes some good tires. I run the T/G Max they last forever and good if you haul a lot.
