Huge SHOUT OUT to @pkarhoff . We tried a while back to be about to control the Auto Regen on 23+ trucks. After some conversation and digging he found the missing piece.
The Plain English method is
PCM - Manual Regen with Auto Regen Inhibit (option 3)
IPC - Enable Auto Regeneration Control
Enable Manual Regeneration
APIM - Enable Auto Regeneration Control
You will now have this available in the APIM (Sync) Under Settings > Vehicle Settings > Auto Regeneration
Once Enabled you will get this pop-up screen on your dash
Select OK, Dialog box
You will get this message at every start up
You will be left with the orange/yellow Auto Regeneration disabled icon on the lower right.
The AsBuilt Spreadsheet is updated with this new information.
If you use the Plain English remember to make backups of your modules (in AsBuilt) before the changes.
What would be the reason to want auto regen off? I ask because my 2025 is lightyears better at regeneration than my 2017 and I have been happy in comparison. I would just like to know why others don't like it the way it came from the factory. Maybe I am missing something, so I would love to know why.

me to..I don't fully understand why we want auto regrn off
Someone smarter than me can gives cliff notes
Getting close to destination and it's about to go into regen, 90% full or higher.
I prefer not to have partial regens.
Probably doesn't even matter, just a personal thing, I guess.
That's how I was with my 2019. Now with the 2024, regens are quick. If I look down and see 40% or 50%, 5 minutes later it's usually 0%. Actually, I have seldomly seen it above 50% or 60%.

I'm not messing with the setting on this one.
agreed
My 21 took long time to regen
i can see with trucks using extra fuel injected in exhaust syroke chaging this setting
Shut down during a regen can add to fuel dilution of oil
But 23 fwd use 9th injector at the dpf so no extra is available to dilute oil
Reason I want it is so I can get at least one full tank done without regen to see what the actual MPG is without regen. I would regen every other tank then.
Got a few questions for you...I completed the steps you outlined above. Will passive regens still happen with auto regen off?So now if I wanted to do a manual regen, I would go to the Diesel Exhaust Filter gauge on the cluster, and the option should be there to conduct a manual regen? I checked the option was NOT there but correct me if I’m wrong. The truck had not met its conditions, such as operating temp? So if and when all conditions are met, can I do a manual regen even if the filter is not at 100%? Finally, if I want to do a regen while driving, I simply toggle the on/off feature in the truck settings?
Thanks!

@Luckster26
Yes passive regens are not affected.
Within the truck you can not perform a manual regen unless the DPF is full. You also have to have the Manual Regen option enabled via ForScan is not already. The option to regen will only be available when full.
Correct if while driving and your truck is full just re-enable auto-regen and it will work as before.
I have auto regen off in my 2022 because I rarely ever need an active regen. Most of my truck's miles come towing, and passive regen is enough to keep the DPF cleaned out to where the exhaust filter is almost never full. I put about 7500 miles on my truck a year, and I generally have 1, maybe 2 regens per year.
