Recently obtained 12 quality 4V beaded sealant intake gaskets for a trade.
I have 3 2V Cleveland's and will be swapping intake manifolds on two of them, will using these larger intake holed gaskets cause any problem, I considered using some sealant inside the larger opening if necessary.
You might get various answers, because over/up/around here, as you may know, there was a massive difference in size between a 2V and a 4V factory cylinder heads and intake manifolds.
Not even remotely the same size, though they may have bolted together.
When talking about Australian 2V and 4V they’re probably closer. And it might work…
I’m certainly not qualified to even guess myself, but as a general, best practice, you don’t use mismatched gaskets, heads, and manifolds.
but that doesn’t mean it won’t work! :-)
Joining in the conversation then, to hear what others say.
If your heads are like ours the gasket will fit the head OK since the 4V had raised ports. The problem may be the manifold not having a port high enough to cover the gasket if it is made to fit only the 2V heads..
You could buy a Chinese copy of the Edelbrock Air Gap manifold. Some of them claim to fit 2V and 4V heads and just looking at them it seems the intake flanges are high enough to cover a 4V port. Over here they are $150 and free ship.
I think most of those manifolds are for a 9.2 deck. But being chineseium who knows if they actually fit anything well. If you have an 8.2 block there might be enough material to mill it to fit.
