Auto headlights think it’s always dark

I already searched, and the one promising thread referenced a troubleshooting guide which was at a dead link.

Can someone point me in the right direction to solve why my auto headlights remain on anytime my truck is on? They do not go off as it gets brighter outside. To be clear, this does not appear to be an issue with the headlight switch, but rather a relay or the ambient light sensor.

Have to ask, is anything blocking the light sensor itself or is it dirty. I’m not much help after that

Nope. Nothing over the sensor, it's already been wiped down as well.

Well then unfortunately I’m out of ideas, I remember learning about them and messing with them in school but am drawing a blank and can’t find my reference papers.

DRL???? Daytime Running Lights turned on in the computer setup?? Just a thought. Also, I think that there is a way to set the amount of time the lights stay on after shutting down the vehicle. Owners should have that in it if you have one. I'll look at my manual when next out at the truck.

No. It is not a drl function. It is the automatic headlight setting on the height switch. It's behaving as if the light sensor is never seeing light.
