You know they are talking big rigs aka: 18 wheelers.
Yes DO NOT slip the clutch is it not good for the clutch disc(s), pressure plate, throw out bearing and fly wheel on either the pick up or big rig.
Also as they said over in that other site just ease out on the clutch foot on floor and idle back.

Now on your pick up check the motor & trany mounts.
Also how are the rear spring front bushings? If they are bad the rear axle can move around and cause issues.
If the mounts all check out then bad clutch disc / pressure plate. Do you have a rear main seal oil leak? Oil on the disc can also cause that but also going forward.

BTW I do drive an 18 wheel tanker, 10,000+ gal of propane.

That is why 4x4 is nice. You can put it in low range , even with the hubs unlocked, and that extra gearing really helps backing a heavy trailer or a heavy load up a hill.

I would do that at times with a Blazer I had when backing in the loaded car trailer, it had locking hubs.
You just have to watch you don't shock the drive train then bad things can happen like twist a drive shaft or axle.

thanks guys i admit im bad about riding the clutch during trailer backing.
i also did not for some reason put it in 4x4 when i launched the boat.

there was no hop backing the boat down on the trailer to launch. it was only when i was backing the empty trailer down to load up....idk.....i just know i hate that phenomenon

even when i got home and was backing the boat and trailer in to put it away it didnt happen.

it just got me that one time.

i thought that link was funny when a driver was having problems and his boss yelled at him to get his foot off the clutch

I did not read that far. I did maybe 4 or 5 post and looked at the site and saw it was for big trucks.
When I was looking for a driving job 4 years ago I would visit that site.
The clutch on big trucks is used for starting & stopping and you float the rest of the gears other wise your leg would fall off shifting 9, 10, 13, 18 gears all day long.

As for driving a car or small truck the clutch is in or out once moving and foot on the floor between shifts not resting on the pedal as that is a sure way for it to have a short life.

If the hopping only happened that 1 time I would not worry to much. It is strange it happened unloaded I would think it would happen loaded.
If it does happen more check the mounts like I said and keep your foot off the pedal when moving.

Sometimes the hopping can occur from things like your firewall failing. Another thing to check if the firewall is ok, is the roll pin connection of the clutch hydraulic line to the master. If there's excessive wear there it can lead to hops. Mine recently failed. Prior to the failure I had a hop sometimes. After the repair the clutch smoothed right out. So check your hydraulic clutch at the firewall mounting and solidity of the hydraulic lines.

clutch

I have found it to be the clutch center friction disc , the internal springs and or rubbers are either too light or buggered and loose . Cheers

I am having this same issue, but it is inconsistent. I have a manual 2wd 1965 F250 with 4.10 gears. Going forward has not been an issue at all. Clutch feels good. I'll have to look into the bushings.
