E4OD to ZF5 swap question
Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I have a 1996 f350 7.3 4x4 crew cab and I will soon be doing the E4OD to ZF5 swap , I have have read some great forums to gather everything I will need, but I have a few questions.
I have already acquired a S47 trans, t case and clutch out of a 96, but for the rest of the parts I am going to buy a donor truck. I am wondering if the driveshafts from an idi 7.3, 87-94 f250/350 are the same size as the 95-97 power stroke models. Also if the donor truck is not a crew cab, will the driveshafts be shorter from a reg or extended cab? I am mainly looking to be able to swap the driveshafts directly without having to cut mine. The donor I am looking at right now it a 1992 f350 idi 5 speed 4x4 single cab, so I am wondering If the driveshafts will swap directly over to my crew cab once I have the manual trans and case in? Also what else would i be able to use from the 92? And what will I NOT be able to use??? I think that about covers my questions for now.
Thank You,
Christian

Do yourself a favor and split the case before you install the thing. Measure syncro clearances and eyeball the 5/R slider's dogs and on reverse itself.
I just rebuilt mine. Not a big deal to do this. Also put some badass magnets on the PTO covers inside to keep the fluid clean, the factory magnet is not serviceable by design...
