2nd row bench release lever

I know there was a thread (go ahead say search is your friend) out there I read a while back, where someone couldn't get their 2nd row seat to move, well, I finally had that problem and stripped the release lever on the passenger side.

It's also time to consider getting a set of 2nd row captains seats if I can find any within a few hours of Nashville or Bowling Green.

Anyway, is there any fix for these latches. It was working just fine up until today.

Hmm. That's the opposite of me I can't get mine to stay up. It will tilt back if you lean on it.

Are you talking about just the plastic **** striped on the splines, or did something beyond that in the mechanism strip?

i found a guy on ebay that had NOS ones, for the plastic ****. He was selling them for $26 a pair, driver and passenger. Other places had them, but it was $30-$56 for one.

Are you referring to sliding the seat forward? If so mine were difficult to move as well. If you flip the bottom part of the seat forward, look at the track on each side. You will see a metal tab protruding on the inside part of the track. They are attached to a lever on the outer part of the track. I pulled the lever to retract the tabs from the track and stuck a "block" on the opposite side to block the tab from going back in place. I used a 10mm wrench. Then I could push the seat forward for removal.

No, the sliding portion works fine, it was the fold down function...but thanks,, I've got it covered now.

Middle seats get stuck forward because the front seats are pressing against the top of them. Move the front seat forward a couple inches and they'll release easily.

Got the release working properly. New release lever(s) and some time to adjust some weak mechanism parts on the drivers side.

As luck would have it, the passenger side seat is giving me some trouble also now. The seat doesn't lock into place and wants to slide forward, which would make for a very unsafe carnival ride for passenger side folks in the 2nd row.

Anyone have an idea on where I can find a set of 2003 Eddie Bauer 2nd row seats, or should I just be looking to King Ranch the interior with 2nd row captains and put this behind me?
