Data plate/transmission

i couldn’t find this information anywhere online. There’s not a single site that shows the transmission code breakdown.....

trans code C. Color code S.

Anyway to to tell if it’s the original transmission that came with the truck? Same with the engine. Is there a vin stamped on the trans or engine?

i have a leak coming from the gear sector lever. Is that a pain? Looks like I have to drop some stuff from the bottom of the trans to get to it.

The dipstick isnt original. Others have said 22 5/8 but that’s where my trans pan bolts are, doesn’t seem long enough to give a low or full rating. Full is 2 inches plus from the bottom of the dip stick.

No, numbers matching is a "GM thing."

C = Ford-O-Matic 3 Speed.

What year is the truck, what engine? The pic of the Rating Plate you posted is too blurry to read.

PBM-7006-F is the casting number off the converter housing, it is not the trans ID number.

See pic at upper left for location of the FM (Ford-O-Matic) TRANS ID number.

Thanks for clearing the type of trans for me, so now I can cut the dipstick to size. Any idea on color code S?

No reference for S for 1957/60. 1956 S was a special non standard color.

That trans dipstick tube nut is frozen, any ideas on removal or replacement? Any measurements on the nut? I would like to repair versus replace. I can’t find anything locally, so I’ll need to order online. All of this internet’s and it’s extremely difficult to gather this kind of information.
I am contemplating purchasing the 1959 ford truck shop manual, y block manual, fordomatic manual, and 1959 ford truck wiring manual. Any experience with any of these?

Get the shop manuals they are invaluable sources of information.

Is the nut frozen because it is squished or just frozen ?
If it s just stuck put the heat to it and slowly work it back and forth. .

Thanks guys! I purchased the 59 Ford Truck shop manual CD. I bought an o ring kit, because the dipstick seal was trashed and auto zone wanted $3.25 for it. I got a kit of 300 for $4.89 on Amazon. I'll give the heat and shaping a try. Any idea on finding another hex nut/dipstick tube just in case?

Heated the nut and was able to get it to break free. It still had a warp in it, so I did my best to work it back to shape. I forgot to adjust the bands, so probably going to get that done today. That ball bearing was a beast.
