Power steering reservoir

Might be a crazy question but I still am curious?

On my dipstick for my power steering reservoir it says to use transmission fluid............seems incorrect to me.

Back then they both (Tranny & PS) used the same thing. Type F ATF.

Yeah but it's like motor oil, there have been many product improvements since the late 60's. I use "power steering fluid", it is a little thicker and undoubtedly is a vast improvement over 1969 technology.

Another question on this : how do you read this dipstick ? Or are you supposed to fill the reservoir to the brim ??

Thanks,
Martin

I think there were lines on the dipstick where it looks like it's rubbed off. At any rate from memory it is only 1/2 inch from the bottom of the dipstick approximately.
