I notice my 94 F-150 Pick UP was a Little low on the power steering reservoir. So I stop at a Gas station and bought a bottle of "Power steering fluid" and put some in , WRONG!!!!
Now it makes a squealing sound and I find out that you only use Type F "Transmission Fluid" NOT "Power steering Fluid"when topping off the power steering bottle.
Now I'm told I have to get the power steering system flushed out to remove the power steering fluid I stupidly added back out or it will fry the power steering Pump! if it has not already.
I know you should read your manual first but I took a chance that I was right to add power steering fluid, like the time when I added gas to the gas tank also without consulting the manual.
Ford should have a warrning sticker stating
"WARNING do not put power steering fluid in your power steering"
I haved parked the truck and will get it flushed ,but is adding power steering fluid really as bad as I was told?

I think somebody fed you a line. There might be a difference in the fluids, but either should work fine on it's own. To flush, (kinda messy) take the return side hose off and let er spill while the engine's running, and keep adding the fluid of your choice until it runs a consistant color. As a side note, ford power steering pumps have always been junk, and even new ones "moan".
