2018 F250 Front End Wire Vulnerability - READ BEFORE GOING OFF ROAD!!

So last night i'm out at the range setting up targets at 400 yrd. I turn the truck around and drive back to the bench, when I get back I noticed that I was dragging a few sticks under the front lip. (Air dam) I pulled the sticks out and got back to shooting as I was losing daylight but when I got home I looked to see what the sticks could have been caught on. To my surprise Ford has installed the wire harness for the front fog lights and the radar on the drivers side front bumper about 8 to 10 inches off the ground on the back side of the air dam. (see pics below) I am not under some allusion that an F250 with a 6.7 be a mud bogging rock bouncer but I would like to think that an f250 with a 6.7 and FX4 would be able to drive through a field of short brush less than 12 inches tall without ripping wires harnesses out of the truck!!! The last pic is what I did to try and remedy the issue. Hope this helps anyone avoid a costly repair over a design flaw that can be easily fixed.

Factory fog light wire location

Second photo of drivers side fog lights wiring

Relocated wire best I could without cutting. Just used zip ties to move away from heat, any sharp objects. Moved as high as I could without pulling on any wires.

Second photo after wires moved out of the way.

I noticed this also after cutting down my valence. I tucked them up as high as I could also.

My XL says "Ha ha, #PlatinumProblems."

Get rid of the Prius catchers while you're under there. They'll keep your truck from being able to go completely over them, like it should.

Your XL must not realize fog lights are available on every trim level except XL. Maybe your XL has #basemodelblues

You got me laughing...I am going to remove that Prius catcher off my truck. I don't need it.

I'm going to build a front receiver hitch so I don't have any need to keep that Prius catcher...not many in WY anyway, don't think they can make the distance between towns.

Thanks for the heads up Spence. I didn't really understand why the laid out that harness that way, I did see the potential for exactly what happened to you.

My Leaf probably won't. But a Prius will since it has an engine to backup the battery.

Adding cable reroute to my list of things to tweak on the truck. I'll eventually get around to that item on my list sometime in 2020.

I don't think he meant range of the car.

Go down a dark road in a Prius in WV, and you're going to get loved tenderly. Out of work coal miners absolutely love Prius owners.
