Newly acquired 1947 truck
This is my first post on here. I have enjoyed reading a lot of the past posts. I just bought this 1947 Ford truck. I am just getting started on it and thought this would be a great resource for info. The body is in amazing condition. I have not found any rust issues anywhere on it. I have a couple of questions to start off with. The vin starts with 799Y which if I am not mistaken makes it a 47 1 ton with v8. Everything I have seen says it should have a 122" wheelbase. However it has a 114" wheelbase with a 6 1/2' box. The rims are also 15". Just wondering why? The vin is matching on the frame and in the glovebox. There will be many more questions but this is a good start.

Yes it is a Nebraska sticker. It was last licensed in 1972. So this is a half ton truck for sure then?

I think the rears are splits but not the fronts. It does not run and by the looks of the motor hasn't run in many years.

Hasn't run since 72..
Well my old Tonner had not run since 73. Got it running three days after I got it home. Had a bad valve which I replaced later and ran it that way for a year before it got rebuilt. Bet if you changed the oil, antifreeze, fuel it would start provided the carb and pump have been rebuilt.
