Question Front tank starting problems

Hi guys, I have a 1996 Ford F250 7.5 V8 460 and I am having problems starting my truck on the front fuel tank. When I try to start it, it won't start even by pumping the gas peddle. But it starts right up when I have it switched on the back tank. I can start it on the back tank and then switch it over to the front tank and it runs great but it's just starting it when it's on the front tank. Any idea what it could be?
Thanks

Have you checked your fuel pressure on the front tank vs the rear?

Thank you for replying, I have not compared the pressure. Once the truck is stared and running I can switch to the front tank and have no problems driving, it's just starting it on the front tank that is the problem. Would not having good pressure effect just starting the truck using the front tank?
Thanks again for the help and reply!

Not 100%sure but if the fdm is weak, it may give enough fuel to keep it running but not be able to supply enough volume and pressure.

Update

Ok now the truck stalls when the tank is switched over. I was on the interstate and wanted to switch tanks and as soon as I did the truck lost power and I stepped on the gas and it started to stall like there was no gas getting to the engine so I switched it back and the truck regained power and ran like normal. Any thoughts?

I'm gonna guess it is the fuel sender(pump). The fuel sender is part of the fuel delivery module. Guessing is not as reliable as testing the fuel pressure and checking codes to make sure.

Hope that takes care of it. Check back in later to let us know if it worked long term, or just to explore, as there is lots of good info here.
