My front tank is full. My rear tank was almost empty, so I flip my switch to the front tank. It ran just fine, but the fuel gauge goes to nothing. So i shut the truck down once i got to school. And when i come back out, I cannot get the truck to start in the front tank position. It has to be in the back tank postition.
So, how can i fix my fuel gauge to work on both tanks,

Why would the truck run with the on tank, if its already running, but not start with that tank. Thanks guys.
There is a fuel level sender(float) inside each tank, so the one in your front tank is dead, not floating, or missing.
On these old trucks rust and wiring problems are a real issue, it's possible the pump in your front tank isn't getting full voltage and doesn't make enough pressure to start the motor. Check the wiring and pump circuit grounds.
