What he said above. What I don't get is that the truck is smart enough to know that a trailer is connected however not smart enough to know not to shut the back-up alarm off.

My 2011 will auto turn off the backup sensor when hooked to a trailer that has electric brakes. If the trailer does NOT have brakes it will stay on.

A screen pops up automatically on my 2016 when I'm backing a trailer up or have the tailgate down that asks me if I want to turn it off. Scroll down with the steering wheel buttons and hit OK.

My 2016 did the same until this trip with the truck camper loaded. For some reason the screen that always popped up and I could easily turn it off isn't showing up and I went through all the screens and couldn't find a way to turn it off. Not sure what is up with it Guess I'll have to look into it more when I get home.

This truck and the 2014 I had previous to it didn't have an auto feature. Doesn't matter if I have a trailer with brakes or not. I have to manually turn the alarm off whether I'm hooked to my dump trailer, either of 2 enclosed or a tow behind boom lift.

Figured out my problem... I had been playing with the MyKey stuff and shut off the ability to turnoff the backup alarm for that key. Cleared the MyKeys and it works like it did before I screwed it up.

It would be nice to program some of the settings like backup alarm off, tow/haul on, etc. for each trailer... Oh well.... It would also be nice if you had a trailer hooked up that you could use the camera port to work as a rearview camera and stay on all the time.

Nice find. Posting it may save one of us from a similar hassle some day.

Can’t shut off back up alarm

[QUOTE=MRN III;17151189]2016 F-250 Lariat Crew Cab.
there used to be a popup on the dash in front of the steering wheel which allowed the back up alarm to be shut off! Since the last wifi update, the one that shuts off the audio if the seat belt isn’t fastened, that popup no longer is available!!! I went to a desler, called ford technical support, stayed on the phone for customer service,,,, all to no avail! Any help would be appreciated!

that used to work! It disappeared with the last WiFi update! This is the same update that now shuts off any audio if the seatbelt isn’t fastened! Any help is appreciated! Ford technical support and customer service is unaware of this issue!
