I've had a consistent P2290 code for the past few months. I replaced the ICP sensor and inspected the harness (no oil residue) when I did the oil cooler rebuild and EGR delete a few weeks ago. I though maybe the ICP swap would resolve the P2290 code, I was wrong.
I just recently ordered the fuel pressure upgrade kit so I can rule out fuel pressure related problems. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but want to do the upgrade anyways to be safe for the long haul.
So my question is does anyone know the ways to successfully track down the P2290 for the 2003 like in the newer 05+ w/air or am I stuck to the diagnosctics in my service manual?
it means I fat fingered my keyboard sorry.....
hot idle.
so when you say it wont move it stays on no oil pressure?
I figured you misspelled it. The oil pressure in the dash sits perfectly in the middle and doesn't move from Idle to WOT. Actual pressure in AE, I'll know that in the morning.
The truck runs fine, starts better cold but well within the 3-5 seconds Ford "spec" for cranking time.
what is icpv and ipr values with the engine running at idle?
does the oil pressure gauge drop at hat idle?
The ICPV settles to average of 1.12 volts at cold idle and at hot idle is an average of about .90 volts.
The IPR % averages around 28% either cold or hot idle. During cranking it went to 85% when cold and 76% hot.
Does this help? It does take a little longer to start when it is warm and I have a pics of the different values when cranking cold (left) and hot (right).
I guess the P2290 finally got me. On my way to work this morning, while driving 60 MPH, truck died and would not restart. Tow truck towed it to the local dealership, wouldn't tow it home, so I'm going to let them check out a couple of things and see whay they think it is....I'm putting my money on a HPOP, but I hope it is just something like the IPR or something even easier.
What ended up being the problem? My truck just popped a P2290 Friday night during a hard acceleration.
Are you running a tuner? Sometimes the ICP gets out of range on hard accelerations with an extreme tune. Did the truck start running like caca?? Has your STC fitting been replaced?
I have gotten this issue recently as well..
f
or myself, it will only show when my boost is higher than 15psi...
the truck has no power, my boost will go up to 25psi if push it, my egt goes to 1100+, puts out black smoke, but the truck doesnt go any faster..
i have an edge CTS on stock setting, egr cooler delete, egr blockoff, and a BDdiesel full exhaust...
it hasnt gotten any worse, but looking for suggestions before i go in and fix the oil cooler issue.. would like to fix it all at once..

No tuner. Stock strategy shown in signature. And the truck seemed to be running fine before and after. This summer I installed the international bracket over the STC fitting that secures the pump to the block, but the STC fitting has not been replaced.
The little bit of digging I did seemed to point at a HPOP leak. Maybe I should take it in, but I cleared the code with my insight so they'd have to take my word for it.
