And we get people that do pokers run all the time in cages.. You can do them with boats also...

But, most poker runs support an organization. Like when we do the poker run to support the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall...

A poker run to support the Florida Chapter of FTE? I don't think the turn out would be very high...

Running a chapter event along with another event (like in my previous post) would be the way to go. If you can't get FTE chapter members out to go to a veterans reunion that has a chapter event scheduled during the time the reunion is going on, getting members to go to a stand alone event will be next to impossible...

Felixr, there's an idea for you.. If you decide to do it during the time period of the reunion, please e-mail me... You would NOT be able to use the Reunions name, logo, or associate FTE with them in anyway without there permission. All of the Reunion stuff is copyrighted. And getting permission would be next to impossible.

But that does not mean you can not schedule something in the same area, during the same time.

It doesn't have to support FTE but Charities who need help like MDA Jerry Kids or any others

SuperSnake, have you ever setup, coordinated and run a poker run before? It's not all that easy.

Fexilr may want to try to set one up... If it's in my area, I may attend...

No but I did use to be a CL and worked hard to get NC going.

All I am suggesting is that you use a scheduled car/truck/bike show or whatever event that someone is having to benefit a charity and use the venue for the chapter to roll is as a group.

The benefit to FL chapter is only a place to meet that doesn't take any planning, rent of space, entertainment, etc. For a small entry fee that benefits the charity, the chapter has a place to meet and promote the chapter by inviting others who attend to join the chapter on FTE.

Never did I say it would be a monetary benefit for the FL Chapter. Can you promote the chapter meet on FTE, absolutely!

If there is ever any question about promoting the chapter, then contact me, your regional chapters moderator

So work with Felix to make it happen in the FL chapter.

Several of the chapters support various organizations in their "Toys for Tots" car/truck/bike shows and cruise-ins, all of which can probably be found in all sections of FL.

If more than 1 show up from the FL chapter, then it's a meet. It can work for FL if the members give it a chance.

Check out what the midatlantic states did using the Carlisle All Truck Nationals as the venue for having a regional meet in 2008.

Only one problem with that... He's in South Florida, I'm in Central Florida...

If he was to do something at the same time the Reunion is in Melbourne, I would assist as much as I can. But, I volunteer at the Reunion so I would not be available to attend anything the chapter would do as a group.

The reunion is 5 months away. That should be plenty of time to get it organized.

As for helping organize it, that I can do. I can forward info (hotel rooms, reunion events and so on) or post it.

So chapter leader... Here's an event that draws thousands of people every year. And not just veterans. There are vendors, no admission charge and entertainment everyday, all day and into the night. It's located half way between JAX and Miami and is less than 100 miles from Tampa. The hotels prices are low. The Space Center is 20 miles away. And there are casino ships the sail from the port everyday...

You could a get a list of people that will attend. If the list is empty or near empty 1 month prior to the event, you could just kill it. I will assist you any way I can. But dollars to donuts, it will not happen. I say that just from seeing the participation this chapter gets now...

So how about it felixr?

That still will work. How about volunteering to be the central FL board member/ast. cl/event cordinator, etc, etc. ect.

Since this project is familar to you, how about just post a new thread in the chapter forums, give the details of the event, post up a signup list, whatever you need to do to get the attention of the members.

5 months give you plenty of time to promote the event in the chapter. When it gets a little closer, send me a pm and I will see about doing a broadcast PM to all FL residents with the event details.

So is you first name roman or what?

I figured I would provide my opinion
I think everyone is thinking too big. This is a small group that is scattered over a very large state. Yes there may be a couple hundred people that log into the site each day from Florida, but how many post in the Florida Chapter section, if at all.

The other clubs I am apart of were more local initially and we grew statewide. You cannot start state wide and hope to grow locally. Basically we had two groups, Central Florida and South Florida. We had GTG's locally for those folks and if anyone was already travelling for business or pleasure into the areas then we tried to do a GTG for that person.

I like the idea of division leaders, but those people will be identified naturally and you may have a whole area that doesn't have a "leader" because there are not enough active members

How many active members do we have? Many members are active or part of other Ford or Ford Truck groups/boards. Maybe we should piggy back on those other groups for now and see what we can do on a local level, and the statewide part will grow naturally

Hey, Felix,
I applaud your enthusiasm and forward thinking. Although my address is in north Fl, I travel about the country, and so am not often in Fl at all. For me to come to your neck of the woods is a 740 mile trip, one way. One of my sons lives down there, and we made the trip that once. Probably won't try again - it's too far, and took us 18 hours each way. I'm too old for that, anymore.

On a more positive note, have you considered having a twice yearly g2g in central FL? Alternatively, consider one in the north central, and one in the south central. There would probably be few who would go to both, but I'd think you'd be more likely to have more attend at least once a year, that way. Only my suggestion to consider.

Adding my 2 cents. How about planning something in November ( when it is cold up north ) when the big nascar race is in Homestead Florida for 3 days. That way the folks could enjoy the races and also meet the other members.

I'm sorry to hear about your family's job situation(s). I've only been to South Florida (Miramar, just north of Miami) once, but from what little I know, the term reasonable never occurs in the same sentence as the term rent. In order to find such a thing, you will probably have to investigate the small towns in remote areas. At the same time, the best opportunities for most jobs are in metropolitan areas -- right where the competition will be especially fierce in this economic climate. IF you are willing to take work wherever you find it, and take a diligent attitude about it, you can either just keep that one, or perhaps continue the search for what you really want. In any event do not become discouraged, no matter how tempting it is to do so, and persist! persist! persist!

God speed to you all.

I do agree that this chapter isnt that active, thats why I dont venture down here often. I think there just arnt that many people who venture into their regions chapters compared to the tech forums. The more you know about the people in the chapter (other than what your drive adn know about your ride) plays a huge role in these G2G also. Up in the 99-03 7.3 forum we have a off topic thread where we just BS and get to know each other. Because of that thread Ive come to know each person on a personal level and I would drive farther to meet them. I know that in the 99-03 7.3 forum there are about 4-5 people within 2 hrs driving time of me. We have talked about a little get together between us. Ill see what I can do to get them down here. thats just my opinion, but Im only 19 so what do I know...

I will volunteer myself to help out with what I can, I cant guarantee that I will be able to be a divisional leader at this point in time.

I'd thought about asking for another volunteer for this chapter but I'm afraid to. Everytime we get one, they disappear, never to be heard from again. What are all you South Florida boys doing down in that there swamp.
