Angry Broken Tailgate handle!

The handle on the b3000 broke the other day and it is a real pain in the *** not being able to lower the tailgate, especially when you need it most. Does anybody know where to find a decent price on the handle? Its going for about 20 bucks shipped most places, and if replacing it is something simple?
Thanks in advance.

20 bucks is about as cheap as you're gonna find.

Replacement is easy. Remove the panel on the backside of the tailgate, unbolt the handle.

I'd suggest adjusting the catches so the tailgate releases easier. I did that after my father in law broke mine. Drops with one hand now.

Thanks for the tip. I have never replaced that handle and wanted to find out if its a simple job.

Have you checked LMC Truck for their price?

To avoid future problems, shoot some oil or other medium weight lubricant into the handle hinges. Some grease on the arms that control the latches would be a good idea as well.

Michigan beat me to it but I was going to suggest lubricating the inner workings of the tail-gate as well. I've seen the handles break on a lot of Ford trucks due to the lack of keeping the inner parts of the gate lubed up good.

Check your local auto parts "help" section. I got one for my 88 no problem, and I know they had a few others.

Mine broke on my 2002 Ranger about 2 years ago. I took it out and examined it. I was able to drill holes and wire it together. Have had no problems yet
