clutch chatter

My son is getting ready to pull hi clutch. The engine was done within the last 3000 miles and the flywheel was resurfaced at the time by a reputable shop. He also installed a new press plate disc and to bearing. Ever since it went back together it has chattered, and it really is annoying to drive. Any suspects here?

I also had a chattering problem with a new clutch and pressure I had installed.I brought it at O'Reilly's.Had the fly wheel resurfaced.Did the job right and it chattered.How I fixed mine was I took out the new clutch & pressure plate and went to the Ford dealer and brought a genuine Ford clutch&pressure plate and guess what?No more chattering.It works great! I was told that a clutch from a parts house is what I call a fitsall and one from the dealer is one made just for your truck or car.And by the way the one I brought from O'reilly's was made in CHINA and the one from the dealer had USA stamped on it.I didn't notice that the one from O'reilly's had made in CHINA stamped on it,until I took it out.

My '79 F-250 clutch has started to chatter as well. I re-adjusted the free pay a couple of weeks ago and think I may have bent the pressure plate fingers. Now my clutch pedal vibrates like crazy unless I depress it an inch or so and starting from a stop or on a hill is very hard to do. Napa lists a diaphragm type and a long type clutch set - what's the difference? The engine was rebuilt 3k miles ago by the previous owner but I didn't find out if the clutch was replaced then or not. I don't want to spend the money on the full works for clutch, plate and flywheel but I guess I won't know what I will need until I get in there and see what's going on.
