Just curious though, are there people out there that buy factory cast iron intakes and factory carbs? If not, then these pieces are going to the recycler.
Probably. Doesn’t cost anything to list it in the Marketplace section.
I got $110 for the intake, 2 bbl carb and stock exhaust manifolds on Nerdbook.
Going to pick up the heads from the machine shop tomorrow, and also drop off the block, crank rods and pistons. Looking to go with a set of flat tops with eyebrows, to allow it to make a little more HP.
Going with Fi-Tech fuel injection now. My plan is to replace the tank with one from a late 90's Bronco, OEM fuel pump and FDM through OEM fuel lines, from the tank to the throttle body. Bronco Graveyard has the complete line set, and already have AN adapters to connect the OEM style fuel line connectors to the throttle body.
Yes, factory ratio of a Cleveland rocker arm is 1.73 :1
You realize with a roller cam you will need to shave the pedestals and install screw in studs and a guide plate like a Boss 351 head has?
Put bronze guides in it at the same time (your 47 year old guides are probably worn out pretty good by now)
Those motors were a bit hard on guides anyway, especially when you put a decent cam in one
Enjoy that 79, last of the good ole straight axle ones, and the beat one of them IMO
Yours is one I would rid myself of most of the smog, maybe keep it on there, and just block off the EGR with a plate under the valve and leave the EGR carb spacer there
