Hi, you have some nice trucks in your collection. I’m jealous. The cab isn’t too bad. You can fix it up. I sandblasted the underside of my cab and then welded it. Please check the top edge of the firewall. Mine was rusted there. You can read about it in my latest post on the restoration of my ’78 truck.

Best regards from Germany.

Regards, Bernd 61 HD

Thanks man, I do plan to fix it up hopefully I dont struggle to much with never welding before but it cant be to bad.

I sand blasted the whole chassis of this truck and I will sand blast parts of the bottom of this cab where the wire wheel wont get to.

I dont believe mine is rusted there but I will take a look at that. Ive got a buddy who had a 74 that was rusted out there as well.

Took a gander at your forum looks like youve got your work cutout with that truck but looks like youve got it coming along real nice.

Its cool youve got american vehicles out in germany. My family came from poland after the ww2. Great grandfather grew up and lived in Kozy Poland.

Supposedly I have family there but I dont know any of them.

Good morning, I took another look at the photos of your cab. Most cabs rust through from the inside when moisture gets inside and under the floor mats. I restored a '59 Galaxie last year. It was the same story. Same with my Mercury and my Ford truck. The nice thing about our trucks is the open sills at the entry. Moisture and dirt can’t collect there like they do in modern vehicles.

Regards, Bernd 61 HD

Yeah im guessing it had carpet in it and some bad window seals or something of the sort.

Thats the first thing I do when i get trucks is gut the carpet out of them since ive seen to many rot out from it especially with the old weatherstripping in them.

I looked at the lower side of my cowl and its as solid as can be.

Was scrolling through facebook marketplace last night and a medium ginger metallic bed popped up for sale local to me so I jumped on that horse went and picked it up!

Its got a small amount of cancer on the topside of the wheelwells but thats alright.

Now I need to add the thin trim molding to the bedside and modify the bed so it will fit on the narrow frame as this is off of a wide frame truck

Going to weld up the wide frame holes and bedline the inner part of the bed and then ill paint the underside of it. Should turn out pretty darn good.

Ive only had the wrecker for a short while but ive used it to move a few vehicles around.

Actually just went and grabbed a floor pan donor for that highboy with it last night.

Love using it as a cherry picker!

Heres my buddies 56 F100 that he bought in California because he wanted a rust free truck and shipped it back to New Jersey where hes from.

This is a customers truck that I worked on awhile back that I used the truck to move it around until I got it running as well.

Heres some random photos

It has a detroit locker and a spool in the front plus old tires so it makes the driveway look interesting

Started on replacing the floor of my highboy I was going to cut the floor out of that 77 F350 half truck but @RPSM convinced me to use some sheet metal so thats what I started on doing.

My welds are pretty bad ive got alot of work left todo on it just figured id throw these in as a little update to that truck.

Few days ago couple buddies and I went for a trail run. Kind of a shake down for my buddy Coles truck the Tan one.

Its got some issues we found but well get them fixed.

Ended up doing alot more miles than I needed to on the trail run because he didnt check his coolant prior to doing the run and ended up being 3 gallons low. I dont carry more than a gallon extra with me typically.

Was nice going out and hanging out though. Need todo it more often.

On the way back we were hopping onto the paved road and thought he was just rolling out since we were going to dinner nope! He lost brakes so that was exciting im sure..

Bronco Graveyard brake lines were way to long and ended up getting pinched in the shock mount. Time to go get some new ones made to the correct length.

My truck got a little mucky from hitting a dirty puddle haha.

I like your tow truck too.
I'll bet your Super Camper Special throws people for a loop too.
I worked with the guy that came up with the idea and design for the spare tire compartment.
Steve Kersey was working for Ford when he came up with the design for it.
FoMoCo gave him a brand new fully loaded LTD and a check for $8500.
A ton of money back in the day.

Thanks man, I think the wrecker and the white truck are my 2 favorite vehicles out of the I think now 16 vehicles I have.

Yeah my white truck the Super Camper does throw people off I love showing off the spare tire door and its funny seeing peoples reactions to it.

Especially the people whove been around these trucks for many years and have never seen one its really funny.

Did you work at Ford back in the day?

Any idea what the main reasoning behind putting the spare tire in the bedside like that was really?

Ive heard it was for competition against GM's "Longhorn" 8.5' bed for better weight distribution for hauling campers in the trucks.

Those are my two favorites too.

I worked at Rick Warner Ford in Salt Lake City back in 1979 when I bought my new '79.
I did tune-up and AC work.
I worked at another Ford dealer in 2008 selling cars (that job sucked) and Steve Kersey was our fleet sales manager.
Steve was a super nice person.
