My Mistake. I hope to find a bench seat with fold down center arm rest and cupholder
I am noticing your flooring. Is that carpet?
A local product by Georgia Bonded Fibers at a plant, is an industrial heavy duty carpet that was run through a process after weaving where is imbedded in a near quarter inch of rubber heated rubber to be vulcanized. It was produced in various color and variegated designs, and I only ever saw it in 2 ft X 2 ft squares, It is tough, and water proof, and it can be cut if the tool is long enough and sharp enough. I acquired a nice stack of it 30 or so years ago. This color was one I had enough of to do my floor, I cut and fitted and applied it after bed liner on my new floors, then used 1/4" SS bugle headed screws through SS furniture washers (like has recess) and on the underside is a flat washer and nylock nut below the floor.
Our plant in Buena Vista closed a few years ago, I have seen it in garages, shops, stores, and some guys just throw a piece down onto the gravel to ease wear on the knees. It's a great insulator too. I've used pieces even on wet ground and clean with a pressure washer, then let dry.
I used some to cover my hump top cover too.
I have a few pieces this color, plus some blues, greens, golds. I don't even know how one would find it today.

Today I'll be cleaning up the moldings and installing the clips with rivets. My pre-existing holes are 3/16", but the rivets that came from DC with the clips, are 1/8". I guess the last time I purchased the clips they were from LMC. I bought the slightly wider than oem fender moldings and am curious about how they will look against the red. It should look good.
Now it is time to polish up the rims. Gotta sparkle.
Once I polish the rims and install the new grill, polish the moldings and install them I'll post a pic of the finished truck, excluding the tailgate, and that should be 'The End' for this thread.
Thank you one and all for all the help. You have helped me reach my goal with your knowledge and encouragement. Thank you.
P.S. 'Oh man, I really love my new dash bezel with the chrome trim and wood grain. It makes me feel good every time I climb in the truck.
During this thread I have offered my opinion/review about several products, be that positive or negative. Because I have done that I wanted to offer a review of summit brand epoxy primer, urethane high build primer, and single stage acrylic urethane paint. Oh yeah, I want to throw in their gloss clear coat as well.
Summit Racing epoxy primer: I would not use it again. Although it covered well, after curing for six weeks, when it came time to sand it, it beaded up on my sand paper. To sand a door below the window, I used 17 sand paper disks on my DA. And when I painted over it, I got a strange pin hole reaction. Out of 5 stars I'd give this 1 star.*
SR high build urethane primer: The best! easy to spray, with a 1.8 tip gun. Sands easily. Fills body work scratches well. You can't go wrong. 5 out of 5 stars. *****
SR single stage acrylic urethane paint: I loved spraying this stuff. You can see it flowing out to a smooth, even finish. Even after sitting unopened for more than two years, I opened and mixed with mixer on a drill motor and it worked great. My tip is don't use the Harbor Freight cheap gun. Get their $40 conventional cup on the bottom gun. It is a joy to spray. 5 out of 5 stars. *****
SR gloss urethan clear: I wanted max protection for my paint, so I used SR's gloss clear. I sprayed the paint, cleaned my gun, mixed the clear, and sprayed the clear. My only tip is that with clear it is difficult to see how much material you are putting down, so just concentrate on how fast you are moving the gun and how much you are overlapping the previous spray pattern. Maintain gun movement. I love the wet glass look of my paint with this clear. 5 out of 5 stars. *****
Por-15 gloss black. The best. 5 out of 5 stars. *****
Por-15 white: Sucky. Runs easily, color uneven. Requires multiple coats to cover and takes forever to dry. 2 out of 5 stars. **
Part of the paint job is putting the truck back together. This time around I opted for the flashier wheel well moldings. That was a mistake. They came from LMC and looked good in the package, but I noticed that each one had a black plastic edge protector that reminded me of the old VW bug fenders that had a black plastic edge piece. They freaked me out because they are nothing more than a thin piece of SS against my new paint. I tried to put one in its proper place according to the directions, and it was not close to fitting. So, back to LMC they go. Unless you don't value your paint, they are only as good as a thin piece of plastic.
And of course neither ebay nor Amazon have them. Back to the evil LMC. Or, AMD.
Great name! The edge that rides your paint is sharp.
[QUOTE=77&79F250;21789304]You do know that there are other place to shop....just saying.
When I deal with mail order parts businesses, I stick to the ones I have experience with because if the wrong parts comes I don't know if an untried retailer will accept my return, or, if they do, how long it will take. For example, I ordered a part from an unused retailer when I was doing metal work on the truck. I ordered. A week later that part had not even been put in the post yet. I cancelled. It took a month before a refund was made.
You can buy from whoever you like. Me, I stick to NPD, LMC, DC, AMD, and good ol' Summit. In a pinch I'll use Amazon because of the free shipping, but they are risky.
I bought a fuul set long time ago, thought I used JCW but when opened the box a couple years ago, each was sealed in a separate plastic bag and had a blue oval Ford emblem on the sticker with the part number. One day I will install them, but I want to somehow prevent the rounded over metal edge from paint contact.
I would use the not-so-fancy type that LMC sells for $111, iirc. They ride up under the fender and don't scratch, unlike the wide, fancier type that I returned.
JCW? Ha! I had forgotten all about the good ol' JC Whitney.
I wanted to post a photo of the finished truck. I guess I'm nearly finished. I still need to paint the tailgate and install it. I find it much easier to drive/park w/o the tg. I got the amp and new stereo to work. Driving the truck is a pleasure b/c inside the cab it feels/sounds so solid, w/o that tinnie/hollow sound that it had before the sound deadening was installed. I did hit a bump and the tail pipe disconnected from the muffler. Easy fix.
Then last night I took it out to dine with the wife. When I got in the truck and reached for the light switch/****, the switch/rod pulled entirely out. That was almost funny. And while I was driving one of the dash bezel mounting screws vibrated loose and fell out. Apart from that the truck is rolling again, GM mirrors and all.
Waiting for LMC refund to pay for wheel well moldings.

That looks GOOD. Was my first thought when doing my '77 a few short years ago, but my painter suggested the solid white with the possibility of adding the red later much like was when I got it so long ago.
Sounds like you just didn't get the switch **** shaft pushed all the way in to locked?
Racetrack looked OK, but I was not gonna drill all them holes to reuse the now weathered trim.

Just kind of curious, have you maybe got any other pics, maybe on held in place? I like the shine, and I think I can work with some back tape or some adhesive rubber on the back? I too looked in the catalog, I thought looked OK on that blue truck.
Just thinking ..... likely will use what I have but everytime I hear a gravel fly out of a tire tread, I cringe but I think must be strikes under the cab, not the side that I'm hearing occasionally.
