Rear center caps on 7.5L gas F250

I recently purchased some new wheels and tires for my 1997 (1996) F250 2wd with a 7.5L gas engine. The center caps for the wheels fit perfectly on the front but not on the back? I didn't realize these come in different sizes? What "size" do I need to be looking for?

Thanks!

You need the extra long 6.5" caps.

My wheels are only 16x7, 3.5" BS, different offset or width wheels, it wouldn't be so noticeable.

So I bought these and they do not fit through my wheels! The diameter is too big to fit through the wheel. Ugh. I finally found caps long enough but now what is the correct bore that I need?

That, or call the wheel manufacturer to order the proper set. Or, the place he bought the wheels from.

Had the same problem when I replaced the wheels and tires on my last truck. Store didn't have the caps in stock, and told me they would mail them to me. They never showed up, so I went to the store with my receipt and got another set ordered.

I've also been having trouble finding center caps for my Mickey Thompson Classic III's, with a 4.9in center bore. When I did finally find 4.9in caps that were long enough, then I ran into another problem.

I was not able to get the center caps all the way on because of this little lip at the back of the hub. I still haven't found anything that will fit.

That's because your center caps bolt on to the wheel, and Mickey Thompson never bothered to make a long center cap for the 8x6.5" bolt pattern. You should see if the 8x170mm bolt pattern center cap fits(PN 90000001676), or is close enough that it can be modified.

Those are the exact same caps that came with the wheels when I bought them. But they are only four inches long, and don't think I'll be able to modify them without them looking like a hack job.

How much does the hub stick out past the wheel? I emailed Mickey Thompson, and they told me the 8x170mm cap is 4.5" deep.

I didn't realize those ones were that much deeper, the ones that came with mine are only 2.5" deep.

I just went out and measured mine and it is 4" from the outside of the wheel to the outside of the hub.
So if they are 4.5" to the inside of the cap, and the screw holes line up then it looks like they just might work. Thanks man

Send them an email asking if the bolt pattern for the caps between 8x6.5 and 8x170 is the same.

I'll do that, thanks.

EDIT: So I just heard back from them and the 8x170 caps do have the same screw pattern as the 8x6.5 wheels. So I think I'll order a pair of them and we'll see how they work.
