Bumper guards? National Parts Depot, Dennis Carpenter, LMC Truck.... salvage yards.

Are you talking about the chrome bumper guards with the rubber strips?

Dennis Carpenter has them, a bit pricey Bumper Guard Kit | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts

I think LMC has them also but their quality is "iffy".
BTW, welcome to FTE. Lots of good people here.
EDIT: I see the DC guards are out of stock right now.

inre to the Bronco Graveyard so-called 1973/79 bumper guards alluded to in posts 5 & 6: There is NO such thing!

Be aware that 1973/77 F100/350; 1978 F100/350 & Bronco before serial number AG0,001 use different front bumpers and bumper guards.

These trucks use the same painted & chrome front bumpers and chrome bumper guards as 1964/72 F100/350's!

78/79s use the square-shouldered bumpers whereas the 73-77 as well as the bumpsides, use the more rounded bumper profile.

Check your bumper (sectioned or in profile) to determine which version to obtain.

Mystery bumper guards ...

Hello all, I thought this post could help me figure out on that one ....
I'm currently restoring a '79 XLT and 3 days ago I manage to find in a junkyard 100 miles from my place, a set of guards for my project.
I was super happy of my finding just to realize when I got home that they do not fit my '79 bumper.
After doing a bit of reading, I found out that pre-78 (67-77) are using a different bumper with a different shape.
But still, these guards do not even match that second type and shape of bumper.
I am quite sure that they belong to a sixt generation truck but can't find out on what application. (Could they be for the rear bumper of a "StepSide" ?)
Here is are pics to show the profile ..... any help on what application they are for would be mostly appreciated........ Thanks !

Yes, pre '78 bumpers have a different profile. I have a pretty nice set from my '77 lying around if anyone wants them, never gonna use them

Yep Restorer you got a set that fits a 73-77 (non slit above the license plate) style bumper.

Hmmm ... would you agree that they do not match the ones that LaserMike is showing ?
On my guards, the lowest part is angled instead of being square ..... now I'm even more confused ...
Or are you saying that they were two different bumpers for the 73-77 models ?

I agree that yours do not match lasermike.
Yours had the double indention, like for a 80's bumper?
No difference in a 73-77 bumper, but yes 73-77 is different than a 78/79 as far as bumper face angles.
In that attached pic L/H bumper is a 73-77 and R/H is a 78/79. Pay no mind that the trucks have a 78/79 grill.
