Body Swap
Hey guys,
The body on my 1976 Highboy is gone, cab mounts, corners floors, bed is rusted out too, but the drivetrain is still good on it, running 360 with a standard trans. I have found a 1974 F-250 Camper Special that the body seems to be in pretty good shape and I was just wondering if anyone has done that exact swap? And if not, how do I measure it up? Cause the Rad support and front cab mounts should be the same on all trucks right? It's just the rear cab mounts and bed mounts that will vary.

Yes, the radiator support will mount up just fine and also the cab. There are templates on the bottom of the cab where you will drill out the hole. Then just plug the others in the cab. And you're right about the bed. You'll have to drill new holes. You should use some sort of spacer in the new bed holes or the bolts will smash the bed. I used small piping for mine.

bed mount tabs
I am building some bed mount tabs for mine so I won't have to drill new holes in the bed. I will be welding a bolt to the tab to go down through the original mounting hole in the frame. The other end of the tab will a hole that lines up with the original hole. The bolt end will extend past the inside of the frame with a small piece of plate to keep the tab from being able to turn.
I have seen some weld new mounts on the frame to line the holes up, but I don't want to weld on my frame.
Mine is a 73 F100 4x2 swap onto a 79 F250 4x4 frame.
