How can I tell what year bed I have?

Been lurking here for about a month but signed up today because I am stumped on what should be an easy problem to solve.

I have an 86 truck with a newer bed. I'd like to purchase a set of Bushwacker fender flares but do not know how to tell what year the bed on the truck is. 87-91 is one part number, and the 92-96 beds are another. I've tried looking at pictures on the web but to my untrained eye they look the same from 87-96. Just wondering if anyone can let me know what to look for.

I can attach pictures of my rusty truck if anyone would like to see what I'm dealing with.

Thanks all!

as far as i know they had the same bed from 87-96

the only reason they have 2 different part numbers is because of the front fenders

87-96 all the same, difference is in the tailgate. goes 87-91, then gate changes in 92.

I thought that as well. But heres a couple of listings over on BroncoGraveyard

<table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="itemlink" colspan="2">Extend A Fender Flares Rear, 1987-91 Bronco and P.U. </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="60"> </td> <td class="normal" valign="top"> # 35731
New
Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Flares
1987-91 Bronco
1987-91 Ford Truck
Rear Pair
Price: $135.00
</td></tr></tbody></table>
<table border="0" cellpadding="8" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="itemlink" colspan="2">Extend A Fender Flares Rear, 1992-96 Bronco and P.U. </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" width="60"> </td> <td class="normal" valign="top"> # 35735
New
Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender Flares
1992-96 Ford Bronco
1992-96 Ford Truck
Rear Pair

</td></tr></tbody></table>
Theres gotta be a difference. If all else fails I'll just call and ask them, but that would make it almost too easy lol.

Thanks!

Bushwacker does list different part numbers for the rears, which is strange, as replacement sheetmetal is all the same for 87-96/7 beds....
Either way, your bed has 92-96/7 taillights, so, I'd hazard a guess that it is of that vintage.

This is a real useful thread...

Beds are the same, front fenders are the cause... no, the tailgates are different... beds are the
same but you have later tail lights, implying a later bed... no, the tail lights changed in
different years and he has something else...beds are the same and so are the tail gates....

*sigh*

What's the true answer? Just call and ask.

No disrespect to any particular person intended, it's just funny to me how the answers are
all over the road - how is the guy supposed to know who to believe?

Everything I know says the beds are identical, but, bushwhacker lists a different part number, which to me doesn't make any sense. Unless there is a drastic shape difference in their front flares between the body styles and the rear flare is shaped differently to match the front one?
The tailgates do differ a bit over the years, early ones have Ford still stamped in 'em, later ones don't, but the basic shape of them is the same. The bad off of my 96, which is now on my pile on 44's had an 87-91 gate on it...
