Hello all,I still have some bugs to work out and some pieces to put on, but I have been driving this a bit. It is a pure joy to drive. It didn't have turn signals at first and hand signals are pretty hard to see from behind, so I did get the bird gesture once. Its has turn signals now though.
My maiden voyage was to a town 65 miles one way for a car show. I ran 45 MPH there and back, it was a long ride but no real problems other than rain the whole way home with no windshield wiper.
Any way I thought I would post a few pics to share, the first was as it sat when I bought it, the second is one I sent to ins. agent at the beginning of June, and third was today.
Thanks to every one who helped with information. Dan
BTW, I'm planning on making a set of dies to make front teeth for my truck. Looks like you could use some too. Sure seems like somebody would already be producing stuff like that!
Hey all, I don't know if any one noticed My front hub caps, I don't know if a front hub cap was ever offered for these old trucks. I searched high and low on the Internet and couldn't find anything. So one day while walking into a hardware store I was thinking about dog dish hub caps, so I walked over to the pet section and there were stainless steel pet food bowls that looked like they would work as a hub cap. I bought 2 for about $1.80 a piece and as You can see they worked out beautifully. Dan
They centered themselves on the lip of the hub and the rim holds them tight. I wasn't really sure about mounting them that way, but the lip on the bowl was only about 1/4" wide and not very thick. I have probably 500 miles with them in there and the lug nuts have not loosened up or any other problems. Dan
Sometimes the simplest way is the best way. Thanks for sharing.
