OK.. iv got a 76 f100 2wd with a 302, coupke days ago i drove a pretty long ways about 2 hours, and coolant started dripping from the blower box on the passenger side.. well little ways down the road.. looks like im pouring a cup out every 10 minutes... I know th elines run in through the firewall to the heater core... witch My pops says it is the heater core, .... but if so...... how do i get to it raplace it fix it or what.. if anyone has any ideas or knowledge please let me know.. thanks.. adam
Had the same problem with my 73'. Its your heater core, it busted open from either being to hot or its just old. Replace it and you'll be up and running in no time, Don't worry its a cheap part. You gotta go up under your dash and take it out from there. Don't forget to disconnect your battery, hoses and blower motor first. the nuts holding it in should be on the firewall in the engine compartment. I'd go take a couple pictures of mine but i'm at my grandmothers for the weekend and its not with me.
P.S. Its a Sh**ton easier with a buddy to help you.

the truck sat for 6 years not running in my dads yard. he finally gave it up ive had it for a year, probably the old part, any recommendation on how to get to it
Sounds like you might be working on this truck a lot. You might want to think about getting one of these too, makes it a lot easier and faster to work on your truck.
What your basically doing is unbolting the whole heater box from underneath the dash. The heater core will then be bolted inside of it for you to remove after the heater box is removed.
I've did this a few times and forget exactly how everything went but like CheeksMcDuke said, you need to unhook your battery cable for safety sake, heater hoses, blower motor. Seems like where the blower motor bolts through the firewall is part of what holds it up in under the dash. There is probably a few other bolts on over toward the drivers side too. You'll see when you get there. I think most of the nuts come off out under the hood.
The glove compartment insert might have to come out. But don't do that unless you have to. The defroster duct hoses are hooked to the heater box. That will be a good time to replace them if they've turned to cheese. It's not hard to do. Just start out in under the hood and work your way into the cab. The control cables are hooked to the box and can be took loose. It's a good idea to oil them while your there at it.
Autozone and Advance both normally stock your heater core. Seems like there about $32 or so. Hope this helps. If you have a/c it may be some different but probably similar.
got it out, 4 bolts unhooked the wiress, cables, hoses and yep, theres these awesome rusty wholes all in it.. not to mention a pound of leaves .. funny it made it all through the winter wit me driving and poops out now...... and yea im glad it happend now before i put in the new glove box insert
My truck had the same issue when I bought it last year. It's not bad to do. Biggest issue was that the heater box came out just fine, but the tubes were 1/4" longer in the new core and it wouldn't fit back under the steel dash. Scratched my head for awhile then loosened the bolts attaching the dash to the truck and it went right in. I think I worked 2 or 3 nights on it. Works great now.
