1997 f150 4x4 shifting problem

Hello, I have a 1997 F150 4.6 Lariat 4x4, Really hard to shift into 4Hi while sitting still, near impossible to shift while moving (whole shifting on the fly) .... Shifting into neutral is ok 4 Lo is even tougher... Rear end is all new... Fluids are all good and have been changed in Diff, and transfer case.... Just wondering if I'm missing anything....Thanks..

Hi, I had a very similar issue with my 1998 4x4 when i bought it a few years ago. it turned out to be the bushing on the shift lever attatched to the transfer case. I used some WD40 and sprayed it a few times, that loosened it and then I purchased a good teflon aerosol grease and coated it real good. Havent had a problem with it again.

I agree, it is probably your linkage, When I bought my truck used last year Icouldn't even hardly budge the lever. I dosed mine quite liberally with motorcycle chain lube and has worked fine ever since.
