If I replace the battery in my keyless remote fob, will I have to re-program it or will it retain its setting? I have owned my 1998 Ford F-250 LD Lariat SC since new and have never replaced the battery in the fob. Now I have to press the button and hold for a second while standing right beside it to unlock the doors. Figure it is time for a NEW battery! LOL.
Also, just a point of interest. I just discovered after 12-years of ownership that my truck key will not unlock my doors. Key goes in but won't turn, like its not the right key. What are the chances that they put different key locks in compared to the ignition switch when truck was originally built? Door locks and ignition switch have never been replaced, same ones since new!
your door locks are probably rusted spray some wd-40 or pb blaster then slide your key in and out rapidly, it will loosen up, your key fob should be fine just don't take to long to switch it out

x2 when you have keyless, you almost never use your key and it rusts up from lack of use. both our 97 and 02 have done it and a shot of pb blaster and some work with the key works like a charm. Good luck!
