P0171 after spark plug change

2003 F150 5.4L FX4

changed the spark plugs today and tore the pcv rubber connector on the tube, I drove it with the tube removed to the auto parts store and got a piece of hose to make the fitting. I put the tube back on at the parts store and noticed the CEL was on, read the codes when I got home and got the P0171. since I replaced the tube will the CEL turn off after awhile?

why did you not clear the code when you checked it, it might never tried it
