PCM??
Hey everyone, noob here so be gentle. I recently became the owner of a 2002 f150. It has the 5.4 in it and has been doing great till recently. When i got the truck the speedo and cruise control were not working and the overdrive light flashes. I took it to 2 different dealerships one said the pcm was bad and the other said there was a sensor in the transmission that went out that needed to be replaced. I have ruled out the transmission sensor because i just put a new transmission in the truck. So, before i go and spend more money does this sound right? Also, they replaced a few other things like the speed sensor and display thing for all the gauges. Thanks for you time and help.

We need to know the actual code number it is throwing. The OD light flashing is the CEL for the tranny, if the truck is driving fine I'd guess a sensor is not plugged in/bad or a harness is unplugged/cut. Most like the VSS, even though you say it was replaced.

The truck does run fine but every now and then it wants to shift kinda ruff or hesitate to go into gear from a stop. It will rev up then go into gear every now an then. The 2 codes are P0430 and P0420.

Those are cat efficiency codes and are not going to tell you anything about the operational symptoms.
Since you just put a transmission in, take it back. Ruling out a transmission sensor because the transmission was just replaced is an exercise in unreasonable optimism. You have a flashing O/D light and you'll need a better scan tool to pull transmission fault codes.

well ive had the same thing go wrong in my 98 f150 changed tranny after i got it then a few month later it didnt wont to go after work plunged in my scanner and it said tranny power vale so i order a new one on warrnty dindt fix it it was my pcu the power train took a dump oreder a new one from autozone for 180 thats with core fixed and ruuning better than when i got it
