I just picked up a used 2008 F-150 Crew Cab 6.5' box XLT w/ 5.4L engine. It is pretty cold here right now in NY but I noticed that when I turn on the defrosters, or even turn on the AC, the AC compressor does not turn on. Someone said it is too cold and the AC compressor will not turn on. Is this true??? I always thought it should at least cycle when the defrosters or AC are turned on even when it is cold outside. Please let me know ASAP if this is normal as the truck still has 2000 miles of the 3yr./36000mi bumper to bumper warranty left and I want to have it looked at ASAP if this is not normal. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.
OK, so I just went out in the garage. I t is 15F outside right now so I turned on the heat in the garage for a while and then tried it. Got the garage up to 58F and started the truck. It did in fact cycle. Would come on for 6-8 seconds then go off for a bit. Then back on for 6-8 seconds and back off. Does this sound normal? Man I wish it was warmer out so I could be sure the AC is OK before it goes out of warranty. Let me know if this sounds normal and if there is anything else I should check. Thanks.
check to see if your running the ac in AUTO mode - turn auto off and drop the temp to 60 and AC compressor will / should stay if it doesnt it needs service.

My truck is an XLT does not have climate control so no "AUTO mode". Some say AC will not come on if the temp outside is cold to prevent freeze up. Trying to find out if this is the case. Thanks.
