A/C compressor cycling

My 2003 F150's compressor cycles even when the a/c or defroster is not turned on. It has the climate control type of temperature system. This doesn't seem normal.

there are several different settings where the compressor comes on to cool the air and help control humidity. It works with the heater. Unless it is constantly stuck on, I would assume this is normal.
