04 Expy brake job
Did my own brakes over the past two weekends and just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted up here in the past. I found some great info, and most importantly, the courage to whack the rotors with a BFH to get the suckers off. Wheel and caliper off, used PB penetrating catalyst around the hub, put a couple lug nuts on, and then whacked away from the back of the rotor (and tapped the front of the rotor between the lugs a few times). I was this close to getting myself a sawzall when it broke loose. Cleaned her up and put anti-seize on before installing the new rotors.

Two new rotors on the rear and pads + hardware all around set me back about $250. I figure I saved at least twice that much from what it would cost at the stealership.

Anyway just wanted to say thanks for the great resource here at FTE. Always done my own oil, filters, etc. but now brakes too. I guess a plug job is next since my Expy has over 80k miles...
I have the factory service manuals and the Haynes for the 97-02 Expy/Nav/F150. Between the two I get the real info I need (shop manual) and some helpful tips from Haynes. I wish they would come out with a Haynes for the 03+ Expy though (and my 04 Escape for that matter). The shop manual doesn't give a lot of detail on "how" to do things, just "what" needs to be done.
