I've been experiencing some problems with my Ford Expedition 5.4 engine. It starts fine and idols for a while then the engine starts to shrug and sometimes stalls at stops. Its not missing. Anyone have any ideas what it could be ? Maybe the PCV valve ?
Is the service engine soon light lit? How many miles? If the SES light is lit, pull the codes (local Advance Auto store will do for free) and we can get a good idea of what the cause is. I just got a 2000 and had similar problems. I needed a new COP and a new O2 sensor.

Yes the service engine soon light is on. I have about 144,000 miles on the car.
Go to an auto parts place and have them read the codes. AutoZone and O'Riley will do that and I know there are others.
When I read your post I thought "vacuum leak".
Vacuum leak could also be the problem, if the codes show a lean condition Bank1 and or Bank2 then its a good chance the PCV elbow has cracked or split.
