I remember reading somewhere that the 3 valve would be used in the new expy but I can't find the article and I looked all over the place. Maybe send a personal message to 1956MarkII and see if he knows.
Sorry, folks- just got the 2004 Order Guide from Ford, and the 3-valve, 300-hp 5.4 will be available ONLY in the F-150. There are no plans to offer it in anything else AT THIS TIME, but you know Ford- that could all change tomorrow. If it does, I'l let y'all know.
According to Motorweek TV Lincoln is bringing out a Supercharged Navigator with 385 hosepower, the Navigator K. Doesn't do us much good though without a real expensive engine swap.

No doubt. I love my X. But if I had one complaint that is it. It's not really "underpowered" it just doesn't have as much punch as some other full sized SUVs. Yet it's gas mileage isn't any better than the competition.
Every other automaker is squeezing upwards of 1 Hp per cubic inch out of there engines (348 CI Hemi = 350 HP, 327 Chevy 285 Hp). You'd think Ford could at least get 275 to 280 Hp out of the current 5.4 L.
What does this order guide tell you. Is there anyway you can email this to me or fax it.
Thanks
Paul
E-mail me your fax number- it's about 12 pages. It's what Ford dealers use to order vehicles. I don't think it's top-secret stuff or anything, just basic specs for powertrain/ options/ colors, etc...
Forgive me for saying this but... I have more than enough power with my 5.4. As I have changed a couple of things, I have no problem getting around. The rear Axle change to 4.56 made the biggest difference but I was messing around the other day and I noticed with my goofy sportswatch that I made 0 to 60 mph (guaging off my speedometer +/- 5mph) in about 9.5 seconds. Forgive me but thats pretty good for a heavy beast with 35s on it. More power would be better but how much more does one need?
400 horses at the rear wheels would be real nice. It's kind of humiliating when you've got a $40K+ vehicle and most any import and half the mommy vans can blow your doors off.The only way to beat them is to put 4 passaengers in each vehicle, hook them up to a 2000lb trailer and race them through mud a foot deep.
Could any of you in this thread advise me on which vehicle
they would recommend to buy, since they obviously are not
totally satified with the performance, maintenance, etc...
of the Expy?
I would rather learn from your experience, than get into a problem.......

First, are you looking to buy new or used? Secondly, have you driven the Expy yourself? What is "inadequate" for one person may be suitable for yourself, or vice versa. We can make recommendations, but the final decision is yours and yours alone. The best way to make that decision is to drive the Expy and see what YOU think.
