not starting after replacing the clutch m/s and slave
Hey Everyone,
I replaced the clutch master and slave for my 2002 , 2.3L DOHC I-4 Ranger. Now when I go to start it, nothing happens. When I turn the ignition, I get the airbag and ABS light coming on, then a long beep and the ABS light turns off. Any idea why I cannot start?
Clutch interlock seems the most likely. It's the switch that kicks the cruise off if you push in the clutch going down the road, and keeps it from starting if the clutch isn't pressed. I don't have a schematic with wire colors, but a Haynes or Chiltons should. Someone here knows the wire colors though I'll bet! Could be other things, but the interlock is something you may mess with while bleeding the clutch (if you had to deal with stubborn trapped air).
Yeah, I had to remove the interlock to replace the m/c. It basically fell apart in the floorboard. When I put it back together, it had a white piece with 2 points on it, a black two pronged piece with springs on the bottom, and a two piece casing. I put all this back together and as I was reattaching the female wiring, the gray wire fell out. I put it back in until I heard it click. I cannot find a picture of schematic anywhere on line. Does anyone know a bypass to check it?
Replaced the interlock and still no joy. Any other ideas. I checked all the electrical connections to the housing, and unless there is on directly on top, I have them all back in.
you can bypass the clutch start with a jumper wire. from one side to the other if you want to check it out. but be carefull with it bypassed you can start in any gear without the clutch pressed in.
