O/D light flashing
O/D light on the dash started flashing today?
97 Explorer Limited.
Any common causes?
I know on my 02 F-350 the transmission went soon after the light started flashing.

Is the trans shifting a bit harder now that the light is blinking? If so, then your trans is in limp mode and it's not good to drive it an extended period as it causes the trans to shift hard. Try unhooking the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnect to see if the code clears. If it comes back, you need to get it checked out. My 95 OD light starts blinking about once a year. I've pulled codes that don't reveal anything and reset them and I'm good to go. Good luck.
