well i sold my 92 f-150 finally and now i got my 94 f-150 4x4 with yet another 300 and a 5 speed. now my question is my rear brakes are in good condition, no leaky wheel cylinders, shoes not worn out. my parking brake goes right to the floor. how do you adjust it? is there an adjustment on the cable itself? i gotta get this thing fixed.
I'm having the same issue with my '94 Dually. I have new adjustment cables that I will be installing when I install my new brake shoes. The box came with two cables so I'm assuming there must be a cable for both sides in the rear. I'd check those first to see if they are stretched or maybe even disconnected and replace them since they are pretty cheap. Once you do that, you should be able to adjust the tension by turning the adjustment screws with a flat head screwdriver. The adjustment screws usually sit at the bottom of the rear brake assembly and looks somewhat like spurs you would see worn on the back of a cowboy's boot (no pun intended). I'm not the greatest expert on drum brakes since I've only done them a couple of times myself but hopefully this will point you in the right direction.
The adjuster is built into the pedal assembly. Is there any broken cables? Now I was havin a prob with mine, and I went to the junk yard, the older pre 92 trucks had an adjuster on the cables under the truck. The calbes get attached into a lever that attaches onto the shoes. The cables you get in the shoe hardware kit are for the star wheel adjuster.
today ill look for those adjustments. i adjusted the rear brakes to where i getting a very light drag. my pedal is high and firm. my 92 had adjustments on the middle of the cable.
