changed my thermostat on my 95 f350 460 cause it was running cold all the time, and i made sure it went in the right way and everything, filled it up with coolant and let it run, it had like a belt squeel until the thermostat opened up now just a chirp at idle, maybe there some air still in the system, i just got done changing it so maybe when it cools down all the way those extra air bubbles will come out. my question is, is that noise normal after changing the thermostat, i know my water pump is good, hell it was over cooling before the t stat was changed, it works good now but with that noise. any help would be appreciated thanks.
yea i prolly did no noubt, it just seemed wierd that when i first started it up it squeeled untill the thermostat opened then quieted down, just went out and checked the resovoir and added coolant, engine still warm so ill give it a couple more hours to totally cool down and see what happens. it does sound like a belt, its also was raining when i did the change, and still is so. thanks for the quick reply
No, ethylene glycol hangs around a long time and lubes the rubber belt. I assume its serpentine belt so its easy to pull the belt and wipe it off w dry paper towels. then do yourself a favor and wipe the pulleys off w/ lacquer thinner. should quiet right down.
