New to the site. I have a 63 shortbed unibody truck. I plan to swap in a 5.4 from a 2002 lightning along with the tranny. Any help or info on the swap and wiring would be appreciated. I also plan to install a 04 crown vic front suspension and need some info on that as well. Thanks
Welcome to FTE! From what i have read on this site the Crown Vic front swap will be to wide for that frame, IMO A Mustang II front swap or a Older Dodge K member with torsion bars out of a Duster, Volarie or Dart will fit much better
I dont know much about the 5.4 swap you plan to use

Good luck with your Truck!
what is the width diff between the 70's frame that is on here and our slicks?
it is 3 inches wider between the 65-66 vs the 67+ trucks, the 64 frame is narrower than the 65-66 trucks
I can not tell you exactly what the differance is.... Garbz will know for sure! prolly others will know too
I've seen the Dodge Dakota front clip recommended on here, but I have no personal experience with it. I've heard a few people say that the 4.6 mod motor is a tight fit, but that seems surprising to me. I expect you should be able to make the 5.4 fit. I think you should at least measure the major dimensions and compare to your pickup before you buy something.
I haven't done this swap, but I've converted cars to EFI before. My recommendation is to get a complete, running donor vehicle. There are so many odds and ends needed for an EFI conversion that the costs really add up. Even if you buy used and get good deals it costs a lot of money when pieced together.
welcome to the site, I've always wanted to install a newer model engine in one of my trucks but the electronics of it all scares me to death.especially with all the sensors and hooking it all under the dash.that stuff is out of my league completely. good luck and i hope you keep us posted as i for one am still interested in the process.
